A Ghost For Your Room, November, 2022
A Ghost For Your Room is a collection of magical objects created from the detritus of Evelyn’s grandmother’s life. These assemblages, sculptures and poems function as a series of letters between the living (granddaughter) and the dead (grandmother). Using techniques such as automatic writing, erasure and assemblage, Evelyn enters into correspondence with the deceased, revisiting, revising, and rewriting their familial relationship. Applying the lens of steganography, Evelyn searches for hidden messages in a collection of buttons, a series of paint chips, and an old christmas card.
